Environmental Impacts



           The list of endangered species for Virginia, including mussels, can be located here, as this information changes as it is updated.  For example, in Tazewell County, Virginia in 2012,  21 endangered mussel species currently exist. These mussels include: Cumberland bean (pearlymussel), purple bean, Green blossom (pearlymussel), Appalachian monkeyface (pearlymussel), Cumberland monkeyface (pearlymussel), Pink mucket (pearlymussel), Birdwing pearlymussel, Dromedary pearlymussel, littlewing pearlymussel, Finerayed pigtoe, Rough pigtoe, Shiny pigtoe, Rough rabbitsfoot, Spectaclecase, Tan riffleshell, Cumberladian combshell, Oyster mussel, Cracking pearlymussel, Fanshell, Snuffbox mussel, Sheepnose mussel (Species By County Report).
